2023-24 Scholarship Contest Information
The Maine Snowmobile Association will award two $1,500.00 scholarships this year to eligible applicants.
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA
To be eligible for these awards the following criteria must be met:
- Applicant and/or immediate family must be a member of the Maine Snowmobile Association for two years prior to applying
- Applicant can be of any age
- Immediate family members of MSA member are eligible. Immediate family is defined as legal dependents living in one household.
- MSA membership can be family, individual or a business
Scholarship awards are granted to MSA member or family member who is:
- a recent high school graduate or holder of a GED
- any student in a one or two-year Associate or Technical School Program at a school in state or out of state
- any student in a four-year Bachelor Degree Program at a school in state or out of state
- pursuing a Master’s Degree
All majors and /or courses of study are eligible.
Applicants can receive the scholarship more than once.
Applicants can apply each year they are enrolled in any of these programs if they complete an application each year and submit the required information.
Awarding of these scholarships is based on completed applications. Each application is scored by members of the Scholarship Committee using the scoring criteria guideline below.

APPLICATION STEPS- COMPLETE ALL STEPS AND SUBMIT ALL DOCUMENTS
- Complete the application by typing or printing. Use additional paper if necessary to meet requirements.
- A total of FIVE LETTERS OF SUPPORTNEED TO BE SUBMITTED
- Include three letters of support from any teacher, mentor, relative business, etc.
- Include one letter of support from a snowmobile club.
- Include a letter of support from your school. This letter must be declared as being from the school.
3. Include an official high school or college school transcript. School may submit transcript directly to MSA: Attn: Scholarship Committee, PO. Box 80 Augusta, Maine 04332
If applying for the first time, or reapplying and have not received this scholarship before-
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS ESSAY REQUIREMENT
Prepare a typewritten essay of at least 350 words covering the following subjects:
- Why the snowmobiling industry is very important to the State of Maine.
- The importance of landowner relations to snowmobiling.
- What snowmobiling means to you and what your plans are for your future.
If you have received this scholarship before and are re-applying-
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS ESSAY REQUIREMENT
Prepare a typewritten essay of at least 350 words covering the following subjects:
- How did your previous scholarship assist you with your education
- Are you still involved in snowmobiling?
- What do you think the future of snowmobiling is in Maine
- How do you think snowmobile clubs and Maine snowmobiling can attract more young people to participate, become involved, help out and become members
Only the winners will be notified by the trustees of the scholarship award decision. All photos and essays submitted become the property of the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to publish essays in the MSA newspaper at their discretion, crediting the author. Additional personal information will not be made available to the public.
Deadline
Essay and completed application must be received at the MSA office in Augusta by the close of business on April 1, 2024.
